Owen Sound Attack Black History Month Game

  • Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre 1900 3rd Avenue E., Owen Sound, ON N4K 2M6 Owen Sound Canada (map)

Owen Sound Attack will face off against the London Knights on Saturday, February 3 at 7 p.m. for a charity hockey game to commemorate Black History Month.

On game night and throughout the month, fans will enjoy stories from local Black hockey players, alumni and other community members. They will share their experiences and positive impacts made towards the hockey world and other diversity and inclusion efforts.

Fans can also visit information booths (Owen Sound Emancipation Festival, Sheffield Park Black History Museum & Cultural Centre, British Methodist Episcopal Church of Owen Sound - a designated Black Heritage Site and Greenwood Cemetery`s Potter's Field Monument and Interpretive Plaque Project), learn about Black history in and around Owen Sound and Grey and Bruce counties, and bid on some great prizes.

Attack players will wear specially-designed jerseys that will be auctioned off online starting Monday, January 29 to Sunday, February 5 at 6 p.m.

All proceeds from game sponsorship, fundraising and donations will go directly to the Emancipation Festival and Team Jamaica, helping to ensure that they can continue to function, raise awareness, and support Black families and hockey players locally and beyond.
