Thank you from the Owen Sound Emancipation Picnic Committee for your donation to our historical Celebration. We look forward to you joining us at the picnic, which will be held in Harrison Park, Owen Sound, Ontario, Canada.

Our theme, “Community, Roots and Culture,” is a fitting acknowledgement of Owen Sound as the Underground Railroad’s most northerly retreat.  Ancestors, relatives, and numerous friends of the Owen Sound community are now dispersed throughout North America, the Caribbean and Overseas. This most exciting day will recognize former and present picnic and “community” supporters; focus on the integration of families, relatives, and friends; and involve participation from all ages through children’s races and games, baseball, live music, arts/crafts and cultural exhibitions, keynote speakers and special guests, and traditional basket lunches. Storyboards will illustrate family members, photographic and video recording will capture the celebratory ambience of the day. We look forward to you and yours enjoying the occasion with us.

“Getting Down To Business”

A great deal of planning and person hours goes into the Emancipation Celebration Picnic. This celebration always promises to be a memorable one with a musical revue, children’s games basket lunches, plus a return to time honoured traditions such as armbands and storyboards topped off with a rousing game of baseball. We would like to take this opportunity to thank those who have already made a donation.
